Raise your hand if you’d lost faith in Interpol. A classic case of diminishing returns, things finally reached a nadir with 2010’s dour, boring self-titled record. But today, Interpol (now a three-piece) unleashed “Ancient Ways,” the second single from their upcoming record, El Pintor (an anagram of Interpol, heh) – and it’s pretty damn good. Coming on the heels of first single “All the Rage Back Home,” also a total jam, there’s reason to be cautiously optimistic for the new record. The time off and lineup change seems to have rejuvenated the boys and they’re turning in their best material in years. El Pintor is out September 9th on Matador, and Interpol will be hitting the road throughout the fall:
