It always seems that a flood follows a drought. After years of relative silence, Prince is coming back with two new albums. The enigmatic superstar will release ART OFFICIAL AGE and PLECTRUMELECTRUM on September 30th.
The albums mark Prince’s first new sets of recorded material since 2010’s accurately named 20Ten. ART OFFICIAL AGE–the solo outing between the two albums–features several songs that Prince previewed on tour over the past few years. PLECTRUMELECTRUM is slightly different in that it features the recorded debut of Prince’s new band 3RDEYEGIRL, with whom he has been touring recently.
Both albums can be pre-ordered here and here. Fans who preorder the albums will receive two new songs from ART OFFICIAL AGE and an entry to see Prince perform live at Paisley Park Studios in Minnesota.
2014 looks to be a busy year for Prince: aside from the new albums, he’s also overseeing the reissue of his 1984 classic Purple Rain.
