While Gathering of the Vibes, now in its 19th year, has branched out to include funk, jazz, reggae, indie and more, the annual festival’s bread and butter remains music for fans of the Grateful Dead (the festival started as a memorial for Jerry Garcia, who had just recently passed away). The Gathering knows how to please that audience like no other, and this year was no exception, with Widespread Panic, the Disco Biscuits, the Dark Star Orchestra and plenty more Dead-friendly bands on tap.
Given his Bay Area roots, his late ’60s heyday, his sometimes spacey takes on traditional blues and folk, and his ringing endorsement from at least one famous pothead, you can see why John Fogerty would excite a Dead-loving crowd. And that is exactly what Fogerty did. Check out the photos below.
