It’s no coincidence that the rise of Americana is coming along with the return of Dave and Phil Alvin. The brothers are back with their first album in 30 years, a tribute to Big Bill Broonzy called Common Ground. The album finds the brothers revitalized as they tackle the songs that they grew up with. “We argue sometimes,” Dave Alvin says, “but we never argue about Big Bill Broonzy.” The pair’s tour for Common Ground finds them in New Orleans for a night of rockin’ and bowlin’ at the Mid-City Lanes. This show could be worth the round-trip airfare in our books, so head over if you happen to be down south. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the Mid-City Lanes website.
