Talk show host Conan O’Brien has made no secret of his love of music. He plays guitar, he’s appeared in Jack White’s videos, and he busted out a self-referential take on “On The Road Again” during his tour in 2011. Let’s also not forget that his house band is led by the great Jimmy Vivino and features several crack musicians, as well. Point is, Conan loves his music, and he’s more than willing to turn his show into a showcase for artists, which is just what he’s doing next week in honor of the late George Harrison.
Starting on September 22nd, Conan’s musical guests will pay tribute to George’s music with a performance for each night of the week. The full lineup hasn’t been announced, but Beck, Norah Jones, and George’s son Dhani Harrison will all be playing through the week.
The televised George fest comes as a new box set of Harrison’s Apple Records albums (some of which haven’t been in print for a while) is set to be released on September 23rd. A sold-out tribute concert is also set to take place that week at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre.
