Some actors go the extra mile when they’re portraying someone real, and Avengers star Tom Hiddleston seems especially committed to his upcoming role as country legend Hank Williams. Hiddleston is slated to portray Williams in the upcoming film I Saw The Light, and he got some hands-on experience at the Wheatland Music Festival in Michigan when he made surprise appearances to cover Hank’s songs.
On Saturday, Hiddleston came onstage towards the end of the festival for an impromptu rendition of “Move It On Over,” which you can watch in the video below. Hiddleston’s voice is a bit gruffer in comparison to Hank’s soaring tenor, but his twang is right on the money. The actor made a second appearance on the following day to join Rodney Crowell for a rendition of “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry.” Sadly, no video of that performance has surfaced.
I Saw The Light is set to come out in 2015, so we have a while to see how Hiddleston’s Hank impersonation works itself out.
