ZZ Top have announced that their tour will resume in May as bassist Dusty Hill recovers from a hip injury. The band have rescheduled some of their cancelled tour dates with Jeff Beck that were cancelled earlier this year as a result of Hill’s injury.
ZZ Top were forced to cancel several tour dates after Hill fell and injured his hip on a tour bus, but guitarist Billy Gibbons says that Hill is in good spirits and eager to get back on the road. In case anyone wondered if Hill had a sense of humor about the incident, Gibbons says that Hill suggested adding Slim Harpo’s “Hip Shake” to the band’s setlist.
An updated tour schedule is expected to be released by the band early next week; the Houston Chronicle is reporting that the band will make up their scheduled performance in the Houston area on May 2nd at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.
Five state fair and festival performances scheduled for ZZ Top have been cancelled outright, though; fans in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maine, Indiana, and South Carolina who were planning to see the band at the end of September can have their tickets refunded at the point of purchase.
