Ruthie Foster, comfortable with blues, soul, folk and gospel, is known for her ability to stir emotions in her listeners no matter the genre. Her last two albums, 2009’s The Truth According to Ruthie Foster and 2012’s Let it Burn, garnered significant attention, including multiple Grammy nominations, three Blues Music Awards wins and an Austin Music Award for Best Female Vocalist, among others. Having come from a line of strong women – a family full of gospel singers – Foster’s talents as a blues and gospel singer and musician are undeniable.
Foster is now on tour, promoting her recent album, Promise of a Brand New Day, produced by Meshell Ndegeocello, who let Foster take control of the players, takes and mixing, making Foster’s voice and songwriting stand out. This coming Monday, 9/15, Foster will be taking the stage at New York’s Highline Ballroom, joined by special guest and legendary Stax singer William Bell. For tickets, click here.
