The Decemberists have ended their 2-year hiatus with the announcement of a brand new album. Titled What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World, the album is set to be released at an unspecified date.
To announce the album’s impending release, a mural was unveiled in Williamsburg, Brooklyn bearing the album’s name and likely cover. At the unveiling, lead Decemberist Colin Meloy appeared to play a new song, “Make You Better,” as well as “The Engine Driver” from the band’s 2005 album Picaresque.
What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World is the followup to the band’s 2011 hit album The King Is Dead. Meloy published a book series, The Wildwood Chronicles, in between recording these albums.
