The Replacements reunion is in full swing, with both Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson hinting that they’d rather do more than just play their old hits for festival crowds. While a new album from the band is still something of a rumor, the Mats surprised everyone with the release of their first new song in years, and it’s not the kind of song you’d expect them to release. Titled “Poke Me In My Cage,” the song is a 24-minute improvisational piece which sounds nothing like the band until things start to wrap up. Somehow, it makes sense that this would be the first song they release after officially reuniting (not counting 2012’s Songs For Slim EP, which was all covers). You can listen to “Poke Me In My Cage” below.
