Camper Van Beethoven are looking back again this year with the deluxe reissue of their 2004 reunion album New Roman Times. The reissue will feature remastered versions of all of the album’s songs, as well as a few unreleased songs from the same sessions. One of those songs, “Alien Ghost Song,” has recently surfaced, and it showcases the band’s frame of mind during the recording of the album. The lyrics poke fun at being blindly patriotic, something that was a bit of a hot topic in 2004. Musically, the song shows off an ambitious band with something to prove; CVB definitely weren’t getting back together for an easy paycheck here. You can listen to the song right now, via Consequence Of Sound.
The deluxe edition of New Roman Times comes out on February 24th on Omnivore Recordings. You can pre-order the album now on Omnivore’s website.
