Another year means another round of new music from the hardest-working man in garage-rock: Ty Segall. Segall’s first release of 2014, the Mr. Face EP, comes out next week on Famous Class Records as two 7-inch vinyl discs. Today, Segall released the title track from the new EP, and it indicates that this new record will focus on the lighter, folkier side of his music, as opposed to the hard-driving glam rock of his last album Manipulator. The distinct tone of Segall’s voice even recalls some memories of mod groups and British Invasion stars of the mid-1960s. You can listen to “Mr. Face” below, and you can pre-order the EP now (with vinyl that doubles as a pair of 3-D glasses) on the Famous Class website.
