Sharon Jones has proven herself quite a force to be reckoned with. While leading her band, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, on an extensive talk show circuit as well as both North American and European tours following the January, 2014 release of Give the People What They Want, Jones was also fighting a battle with cancer.

Now, cancer free and fresh off the band’s first ever Grammy nomination, for R&B Album of the Year, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings are moving full speed ahead, with the release of a brand new track, “Little Boys With Shiny Toys.” In the new song, Jones is as fierce and full of life as ever, her soulful, powerful voice shining through. The seductive, dangerous cry of “you better watch out, boy” paired with carefully measured horns and rhythm explodes with a funky Motown vibe that carries on in the tradition of the greats and calls to mind Otis, Ella and Tina. Check it out below:
