It looks as if the Black Keys will be taking some unexpected time off. The band have just cancelled all of their upcoming shows, including an extensive European tour, so that drummer Patrick Carney can recover from his dislocated shoulder. The band will not be performing at MusiCares concert honoring Bob Dylan this year, either.
“We are very sorry to have to cancel our upcoming performances through March 10th. Patrick needs time to heal,” the band said in a statement issued today. “We thank all of our fans for their support and we’re looking forward to getting back on the road.”
In total, 17 shows had to be cancelled between now and March 10th. The band said that they were hoping to reschedule the performances but were unsuccessful in doing so.
The band’s Australian tour–which starts on April 2nd–and their scheduled festival appearances are not affected by Carney’s injury at this time.
