We make a point of trying to see Trampled By Turtles whenever we can because…well, they’re great, quite frankly. The Duluth-based bluegrass quintet have been impressing us and other audiences since 2003 with their unique, progressive take on the traditions of the genre. Their latest album, Wild Animals, may be their finest yet; it’s certainly their most ambitious work to date, as it finds them pulling further away from traditional bluegrass and into a different world entirely. There are a lot of artists out there, but Trampled By Turtles can count themselves in the exclusive club of innovators.
