Keeping to musical traditions is great, but the members of The Devil Makes Three have never seemed like the type of people to get bogged down in tradition. Pete Bernhard, Lucia Torino, and Cooper McBean all cut their teeth in punk bands growing up, and it shows in their vibrant performance style. In recent years, though, the band has become more song-oriented, developing an interest in telling stories in the vein of heroes like Woody Guthrie and Townes Van Zandt.
