Though she has been performing since 2010, pint-sized, UK-based singer Leah Mason first attracted attention for her string of shows at SXSW last year as well as her tour with Brendan Benson, of The Raconteurs fame. Benson’s Readymade Records is releasing Mason’s EP i on Tuesday.

The EP, which features production and songwriting contributions from Benson, impresses over six songs with tight, guitar-based grooves and, especially, Mason’s classic rock vocals. The power of those vocals stands out in particular on “Another Way,” the track that closes the EP.

With its descending chord progression and a heft that belies its acoustic-guitar-centered instrumentation, “Another Way” is reminiscent of the Blind Faith classic “Can’t Find My Way Home,” with Mason fulfilling the Stevie Winwood role. Mason says of the track: “This felt like the most fitting ending to the EP. We had about 24 hours til we had to leave the studio and this just came out. A personal favourite.”
