Twenty-five years after breaking through and winning the hearts of American music fans, BoDeans are still going strong. The group have worked with the likes of T-Bone Burnett and Talking Heads’ Jerry Harrison to help mold their unique sound, but in the end, it all comes back to the talent of the individuals in the band. Few songwriters have managed to mix musical adventurousness and accessibility in quite the way that Kurt Neumann has. The band are starting a new life with the departure of Sam Llanas, but if the excellence of American Made is any indication, they’ll be just fine. Don’t miss them when they come to the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here.
The Bodeans just aren’t the same band live anymore with the absence of Sam Llanas. It’s a ok live show, but it’s no longer ‘The Bodeans’ in my book. I’ve gone to see them live a few times in the past year & a half and there are always new band members each time playing with Kurt. Those seem to come & go, just like Sam is now gone. The excitement was about the two of them, the harmonizing together, the blended vocals, and now it will never be the same again. I think they should change the name to Bodean (singular) for there is only one Bodean.
