Legendary guitarist Eric Clapton is set to celebrate his 70th birthday in New York with two concerts at Madison Square Garden. The shows are scheduled for May 1 and 2, though they could be rescheduled to May 3 in the extremely unlikely event that a NBA playoff game is scheduled for those dates.
Clapton, who has played the venerable Garden more than 40 times over his long career, will play the show with his usual touring band. Andy Fairweather Low and the Low Riders will open both shows. After he plays these gigs, Clapton will return to the UK to play seven shows at the famed Royal Albert Hall in London.
Tickets for the Madison Square Garden shows will go on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster starting on Monday. Make sure to get your tickets as soon as possible, as these shows will likely sell out fast, particularly because this may be one of the last chances to see the legend–who has recently mentioned the possibility that he may retire from touring–on such a stage.
