Brandon Flowers, the frontman for popular novelty band The Killers, played a hometown gig at Las Vegas’s the Bunkhouse Saloon in preparation for his forthcoming, second solo album. In addition to previewing songs from the new album, Flowers and his band also tossed off a cover of Robert Palmer’s late 80s hit “Simply Irresistible.”
In true Las Vegas fashion, the cover-band-faithful performance was, paradoxically, both inessential and fun. Flowers, wearing what appeared to be a gold lamé smoking jacket, sauntered confidently around the stage, smiling and bobbing his head to the beat. The band replicated Palmer’s original tune right down to the cheesy guitar solo two-thirds of the way through the song and the crowd responded with enthusiasm to the sleazy fun.
