Since 2010, Wilco has curated their own festival in Massachusetts, and the results have always been worthwhile. This year, for the fourth installment of the Solid Sound Festival (the band took years off in 2012 and 2014), Wilco may have outdone themselves yet again.
The lineup for Solid Sound 2015 is topped by, of course, Wilco, as well as Tweedy, frontman Jeff Tweedy’s side project with his son Spencer. New rising stars like Real Estate, Mac DeMarco, Shabazz Palaces, and Jessica Pratt will be playing alongside legends like Taj Mahal, Richard Thompson, and Bill Frisell. The rest of Wilco will also take turns in the solo spotlight: keyboardist Mikael Jorgensen will play a solo set, guitarist Nels Cline and drummer Glenn Kotche will be playing with Norton Wisdom and Jeffrey Zeigler, respectively, and The Autumn Defense (the band started by bassist John Stirratt and keyboardist Pat Sansone) will be playing a special set in tribute to Morning Of The Earth.
Solid Sound’s comedy stage looks set to impress, as well, with absurdist/satirist John Hodgman, stand-up star Tig Notaro, The Daily Show star Jessica Williams, and comedy veteran Paul F. Tomkins all scheduled to perform.
The Solid Sound Festival takes place from June 26th to June 28th at the Massachusetts Museum Of Contemporary Art in North Adams, Massachusetts. Tickets can be purchased here.
