Judging by his recent comments on Twitter, Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett fulfilled a lifelong dream when he got to jam with his idol, UFO and Scorpions guitarist Michael Schenker, at this week’s taping of VH1 Classic’s That Metal Show. One would imagine that the episode, which airs this Saturday night, will be a special one for Metallica fans, as well as fans of metal and hard rock in general.
During the interview segment, Hammett discusses Metallica’s current plans with hosts Eddie Trunk, Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine and ranks his favorite Metallica albums in order. The group also discusses their favorite Schenker-era UFO songs and debate the relative merits of UFO’s Strangers In The Night and Thin Lizzy‘s Live and Alive. The episode also features Damon Johnson, of Thin Lizzy spin-off band Black Star Riders, as musical guest on guitar and lap steel.
That Metal Show airs Saturday nights at 9:00 P.M. ET/PT on VH1 Classic.
