Franklin, Tennessee is welcoming a new stop on the festival circuit this year as the Pilgrimage Festival is set to make its debut run this September. The eclectic inaugural lineup is topped by Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, The Decemberists, and Weezer. Other performers at the festivals include legendary musicians Dr. John and Jimmy Cliff, alt-country songwriter Neko Case, Iron & Wine, and St. Paul & The Broken Bones.
The Pilgrimage Festival was established by Kevin Griffin–lead singer of Better Than Ezra–W. Brandt Wood, and Michael Whelan. The three Louisiana natives took a bit of an inspiration from the New Orleans Jazz Festival when putting together their fest, as evidenced by the wide array of musical genres represented by the lineup. The Pilgrimage Festival will also feature some stages to make it a different festival experience, including a “Little Pilgrims” stage to profile young performers, as well as “Pilgri-mashups” that will feature some unlikely musical collaborations.
The Pilgrimage Festival takes place on September 26th and 27th at the Park in Harlinsdale in Franklin, Tennessee. For more information, visit the Pilgrimage website.
