Americana folk sister duo Ari & Mia from Boston have been making music together since they were children. By providing delicate vocal harmonies with Ari on the cello and Mia on the violin and banjo, the duo create soothing folk music that has won the sisters various accolades. In 2010, Mia conquered the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for her contributions in the folk genre, not to mention that Ari & Mia’s debut album Unruly Heart scored a high ranking on the folk radio charts when it first came out in 2011.
Upon listening to the girls’ latest single “On Your Own” off their upcoming full-length record, Out Of Stone, set to be released in July, it is clear that their accomplishments were rightfully earned. The crisp instrumental precision paired with Ari & Mia’s delicate harmonies make “On Your Own” an enticing folk track. In addition to its musical triumphs, the duo prove they are both strong songwriters, by singing lines like “If you find sorrow, if you find tears/Know my heart breaks for you/And if you dream sweetly and joy appears/I’ll laugh and bow my head too”. All in all, “On Your Own” is a special song of hope and compassion created by two incredible musicians.
