Yesterday, The Amigos Band made their last Facebook post ever…under that name.
The band felt a name change was important in order to better embody the American roots musicians they love to perform. Their music is road trip music. It’s rocking and rolling with soul, country and bluegrass. The band has performed throughout the US at Folk Festivals and toured China, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam on behalf of the U.S. Department of State, giving over 40 concerts performing with local and international artists.
Their new EP, Take My Picture, will debut in February of 2016. It features four original songs as well as a spin on Aretha Franklin’s classic love song “Do Right Woman, Do Right Man.” Accordion, strong vocals, an electric guitar and a killer rhythm create a sound that will remind you of Flying Burrito Brothers, Tom Petty, Clifton Chenier, and the Band.
The quartet includes Justin Poindexter, Sam Reider, Noah Garabedian and Willie Clark. An impressive and interesting bio on these guys is worth a read on their website.
Listen to “Silver City Bound” below. Originally recorded by Blues and Americana musician Lead Belly and covered here by the incredibly talented group of musicians now known as Silver City Bound.
