For over four decades- 42 years to be precise- Los Lobos have blended their heritage with the sounds of American music to craft “the soundtrack of the barrio.”
In his Elmore review of the band’s latest album, Gates Of Gold, Tom Clarke wrote, “Los Lobos may be the truest example of a melting pot band ever. Four fifths Mexican by way of East L.A., practically anything in the rock, soul and Americana realms is child’s play for them… At times highly inventive and at others straight-ahead, these extraordinary writers, players and singers hold tight to tradition, but have no fear. Long ago they could lay claim to their own kind of “Los Lobos Music.” At this point, at these naughtily-heavenly Gates of Gold, they define that sound perfectly. So, that’s what it is about Los Lobos: highly recommended for the head, hands, feet, and heart.”
The band is currently on tour for Gates Of Gold, and you can catch them on Friday, December 4th at San Francisco’s historic venue, the Fillmore. To buy tickets, head to the Fillmore’s site here.
