You may know Richard Thompson as the co-founder of Fairport Convention. You may know him as one of the greatest–and yet ever underrated–guitarists of all time (he was named in the top 20 of all time by Rolling Stone). You may know him as one of the greatest–and definitely underappreciated–songwriters of all time (his tunes have been covered by everyone from Robert Plant to Elvis Costello to Bonnie Raitt). You may now know him as one of the current Americana/roots scene’s most exciting performers.
No matter which Richard Thompson you know, he has demonstrated, over the course of 40-some albums and six decades in the music business, that he is a force to be reckoned with.
Coming off tours with Rodney Crowell and Emmylou Harris, as well as a stint with the Americanarama tour (featuring Bob Dylan, Wilco and more), Thompson is now out on the road with his trio. At the famed Fillmore in San Francisco, fans will get to enjoy both a performance from the trio as well as a solo acoustic set from Thompson to open the show.
