At this point, after 40-odd years, you either know Los Lobos or you don’t. And if you don’t, you’re really, really missing out. Since the 1980s, this Los Angeles-bred band has been setting the standard in Tex-Mex-inflected roots rock. Today, they’re getting some much-deserved credit, with widespread acclaim for their new album, Gates of Gold (their first since 2010’s Grammy-nominated Tin Can Trust), and a nomination for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
One of the many ways Los Lobos got to where they are today is through a rigorous, constant touring schedule. Just this month, they’ll make their way from San Francisco all the way to New York, where they’ll perform at the venerable City Winery on December 21. For more info and tickets, click here.
