While the rest of us are hibernating in our houses, Jason Aldean is working hard and cranking up the heat all on his own, extending his 2015 tour by 24 dates around the country. He’s also recently renamed it the “We Were Here Tour,” after his new top 15 single. It was a brutally cold night when the country megastar played two nearly sold out, back to back nights at the US Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, Illinois on January 16 & 17. A Thousand Horses warmed up the already pumped up crowd, followed by Thomas Rhett, who later performed “1994” with Aldean from his Night Train album.
During the breaks, a DJ blasted some mixes of Journey and AC/DC, along with classic country to a grateful audience. Aldean hit the stage with lights and lasers, opening the show with two songs from his 2014 release, Old Boots New Dirt: “Just Getting Started” and “Gonna Know We Were Here,” the namesake of the new tour. He rocked the crowd with so many of his top 100 hits, such as “Dirt Road Anthem,” “Take a Little Ride,” “Big Green Tractor,” “Night Train” and “She’s Country.” His band loves to crank the electric guitars, and Aldean isn’t big on chit-chat, so it was simply song after song, and Aldean played more than 20 songs in his set. He took it on home with Top 20 single “Burning It Down,” and the finale of the show, “Crazy Town,” his Top 10 song about Nashville’s nightlife.
