Today Elmore is premiering “Running from Love,” the title track off Josh Hoyer and Soul Colossal’s third full length album. The track is filled with funk, which is overlaid with a sweet, soulful ballad– a signature sound for the band, which has taken off in popularity in recent years, having completed several national tours in 2015, playing more than 150 shows in 32 states. The guys continue to deliver with this new track, which fans will like and others will come to enjoy.
The song certainly grooves, but it’s also a call to action. It encourages universal love, and reminds listeners to strive to change the world around us. Hoyer says of the track, “With violence and division making a daily headline in 2015 through the police violence, the Black Lives Matter movement, the record number of mass shootings and the rise of political extremism in the campaigns of Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, I responded with a cry to quit “running from love” in this country. We have come to another pivotal moment in this great nation, and my hope and plea is that we learn to come together and realize what we all have in common. It is time for us to respect, in word and deed, all races, creeds, sexual orientations and religions. This song is a challenge to those people who consistently are trying to divide us from this future ideal and reality.”
