The show was built around three legendary guitar players Andy Timmons (Danger Danger) Jennifer Batten (Jeff Beck) and the star of the show, Uli Jon Roth (the Scorpions). The show started off with Andy Timmons. The song of his that caught my ear was his version of “Strawberry Fields Forever.”
Next up was Jennifer Batten, who of course paid tribute to Jeff Beck, the man who put her in the guitar map. She had an interesting concept where she played along to a video. The highlight for Batten was the guitar montage that she played paying her respects to all the great guitar players that influenced her.
The guitarist that everybody came out for was Uli Jon Roth and he did not disappoint. He pulled much of the material from the early Scorpions days. “All Night Long,” “In Trance,” “Fly to the Rainbow” and of course he gave everybody a taste of Jimi Hendrix with his version of “All Along the Watchtower” and “Little Wing.”
Roth brought everybody out for a nice jam on “House of the Rising Sun.” It was a great performance by all involved, but make no mistake about it, Uli Jon Roth is the one to see when he comes to your town.
