It’s not Halloween, but the Vampires are out in full force! The Hollywood Vampires that is, a new supergroup made up of Joe Perry, Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper. The group is are named after the celebrity drinking club formed in the ’70s, and honors those artists who passed from overindulgence. Artists would frequent the infamous Rainbow Room in LA, only coming together at night. As Alice told the crowd, “they would come drink, party, and barely walk out alive!” “Dead Drunk Friends” is their aptly named tribute song.
The group astonished fans at the Turning Stone Resort Casino, the first stop on their Summer tour, keeping everyone on their feet during the entire show. Their songs ranged from blues to classic rock, woven in between with all our favorites, paying tribute to those we have lost and artists who still influence music today. Joe Perry is quite the showman, and didn’t disappoint fans, smashing his guitar to smithereens by the end of the show! Alice Cooper is an equally amazing performer, looking and sounding incredible as ever commanding the stage. And where does Johnny Depp come in? Well, he met Alice while filming 2012’s Dark Shadows, and the rest was history. For those who don’t know, Depp’s first love is music, and he’s been playing guitar since he was a teen.
Tommy Henriksen on guitar and backing vocals, Matt Sorum on drums, Robert DeLeo and Duff McKagan on bass and Bruce Witkin on keys and guitar fleshed out the band to give these Vampires a truly killer sound, and give us an absolutely unforgettable evening.
