Master of the Telecaster Bill Kirchen and his new-release partner keyboardist and Godfather of Pub Rock Austin de Lone bring their chops to Joe’s Pub Wednesday, Aug. 31. The two will be partying to celebrate the release their new CD, Transatlanticana, and if history’s any indicator, we’re in for a treat.

Kirchen regularly teams up with other guitarists, and not only does he play the hell out of the guitar, he makes the audience laugh about it. Sly humor, both verbal and musical, make any evening with Kirchen pure delight. I never tire of the impressive (and hysterical)  version of his “Hot Rod Lincoln” which he’s updated since his days with Commander Cody (it includes about 40 classic guitar riffs), but whatever the two play, I’m betting it will be as good as anything we’ve heard this year.
