While doing regular sets at Momo’s in Austin, TX, songwriters Colin Brooks, Gordy Quist and Ed Jurdi began sitting in with each other and eventually creating their own show called the Good Time Supper Club, which consisted of three singer/songwriters backed by bassist Seth Whitney and drummer John Chipman. Shortly after garnering success and popularity from their Good Time Supper Club shows, they soon became an official and well-developed rock n’ roll band. As a band, they’ve released multiple albums including Live from Momo’s (2006), Live at Antone’s (2007), The Band of Heathens (2008), One Foot in the Ether (2009) and Top Hat Crown & the Clapmaster’s Son (2011). Unfortunately, Brooks,Whitney and Chipman left the band in 2011. Ed Jurdi and Quist stayed around and released Sunday Morning Record, which was selected by The Alternative Root as the number one album in 2013, after redefining the band.
Earlier this year in March, the band released the 5-track Green Grass EP, which includes four originals and a cover of the band’s song “Bessie Smith.” The EP will be followed by a full album due out in September. Luckily, those weren’t the only things the fans were excited about… The Band of Heathens also announced that they’ll be going on tour this fall to celebrate the band’s 10 year anniversary. If fans purchase advance tickets, they’ll receive a free digital download of Green Grass. You can check them out at the Kerrville Fall Music Festival on Sept. 2 (For ticket information, go here). If you can’t make it to that show, you can go to a different show listed below:
