John Mayall – 11/10 – El Rey Theatre (Albuquerque, NM)

mayallOriginally, John Mayall performed with three other men… However, due to severe storm conditions, guitarist Rocky Athas was unable to get out of Dallas for the band’s recent festival shows that led to Mayall performing as a trio. “Having never performed anywhere or at any time without a guitar sidekick, I found that I was able to explore new territories in a trio configuration playing organ, keyboards, harmonica and guitar,” Mayall said. “Needless to say I was surprised at how different and stimulating the experience was for me as a performer.” Mayall then made the decision to continue as trio, which includes band members Greg Rzab and Jay Davenport. Athas was very accepting and understanding of this decision and will now resume his solo career. As a trio, the band has discovered a new spark that will surely light up stadiums with extreme intensity.

The band’s latest album, Talk About That, will be released early next year on Forty Below Records and will include special guest Joe Walsh on two of the tracks. This fall, Rzab, Davenport and Mayall will be embarking for several weeks intensively touring all around the United States, hoping their fans will enjoy the fireworks coming their way.
