Kanye West was hospitalized in Los Angeles yesterday, for what was characterized by Fire Department dispatchers (heard on audio from the call obtained by TMZ) as a “psychiatric emergency.”
West was uncharacteristically quiet during this tumultuous election season, but that changed last Thursday when, on a stop for his St. Pablo tour in San Jose, California, the 39 year old hip-hop megastar announced that he would have voted for Donald Trump—if he had voted.
In Sacramento, two days later, after playing only three songs, he went on another stream-of-consciousness tirade, then abruptly ended the show.
The shows were part of a 23 night expansion to his tour supporting The Life Of Pablo, which he released in February, all of which were cancelled in the wake of Saturday’s performance in Sacramento.
West is currently being treated for stress and exhaustion at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
