Premiere: Phoebe Hunt & the Gatherers

On the prowl for success

After a five-year journey that has taken her from her Austin roots through Music Row to India (to study with master violinist Kala Ramnath) and then to Brooklyn, Phoebe Hunt has made an impressive creative leap with Shanti’s Shadow, and her most inspired set of songs to date. Masterfully crafted songs are brought to life by musicians from diverse genres that Hunt has worked with along her path.

The songs may be complex, but Hunt told Elmore: “It’s pretty simple really. I’m a Texas girl who moved to the Big Apple. I wrote this song when I moved here as a prayer to the city. A simple request that the city would let me in and not spit me out.”
