The ongoing battle between proponents of minimalist in-ear Bluetooth headphones and the larger, over-the-ear alternatives won’t be settled after trying the 1MORE Triple Driver In-ear model, but the combination of good fit and bright, crisp audio quality will give earbud aficionados a good excuse to upgrade.
As with any phones with a neckpiece, there is a bit of learning curve to master the ergonomics of using the controls without taking it off to adjust the volume. The Bluetooth connection is easy and once the connection is made, the fun starts.
1MORE provides a large selection of soft rubber tips for the earbuds, from tiny to pieces to those big enough to satisfy users with earholes the size of the Lincoln Tunnel; find the right one and they will stay in place during virtually any physical activity.
This reviewer is one of those heavy bass lovers, and I would have liked more, but the sharp, clear and “mud-free” sound quickly made me forget the lack of thump and I thoroughly enjoyed most of my favorite music.
The instruction booklet, thick as a copy of the Manhattan White Pages, is daunting until one realizes that it is printed in a half-dozen languages; it then seems minimalist. A few key instructions, like how and where to connect the charger, are left for the new owners to figure out on their own. Tip: at the bottom of one side of the neckpiece, a plug covers the USB connection.
If your earbuds are still connected to your phone by a bunch of messy wires, the 1MORE is a great place to cut the ties; if you want to upgrade to a greater level of audio quality, grab a set of these.
