Depending on your background, it takes chutzpah, cojones, guts or nerve to release a third album which remakes songs from your first two albums, but Curse Of Lono’s forthcoming release 4am And Counting consists of 11 mellow, rootsier versions of tracks off the band’s earlier two CDs.
4am And Counting was recorded in a studio with no computers and no digital technology fool around with. Best known for their deeply cinematic blend of harmony-laden Americana and driving, gothic alt-rock, this release offers a more intimate, stripped-back take on some of the band’s existing material.
Frontman Felix Bechtolscheimer told Elmore “This album is a collection of rootsy, stripped-back versions of tracks off our first two albums. We wanted to capture the vibe we get when we’re jamming late at night. Hence the title ‘4am And Counting’. If you listen to the original versions of these songs on our first two albums, it’s clear that these are definitely the lazy, late night incarnations.”
Curse Of Lono, which formed in London in 2015, is Felix Bechtolsheimer (vocals, guitar), Joe Hazell (lead guitar and vocals), Dani Ruiz Hernandez (keys and vocals), Charis Anderson (bass and vocals) and Neil Findlay (drums).
