Regular readers will notice that Elmore Magazine mentions Parkinson’s Disease causes often. Among the most dedicated fund-and-awareness raisers is the Light of Day Foundation, headquartered in Asbury Park, NJ; this group of musicians have been raising millions of dollars over two decades.
Now, however, that intrepid group has turned an immediate need: Asbury Park’s own survival as a leisure and entertainment destination.
Sunday, Nov. 22, 19 Garden State music makers combine their talents for SHINE A LIGHT, a streaming musical event in support of Asbury Park Dinner Table (APDT).
Heading up the formidable talent roster is Johnny Rzeznik, lead singer of superstar rock act, The Goo Goo Dolls. He’ll be joined by 18 other artists including longtime Bruce Springsteen collaborator Joe Grushecky and his band, The Houserockers, Jim Babjak of The Smithereens, Jersey Shore favorites The Weeklings and a host of acclaimed singer-songwriters, among them Richard Barone of The Bongos, James Maddock, Ben Arnold and Danielia Cotton
Next Sunday, at 11 AM sharp, Tom Cunningham, host of the Springsteen on Sunday (107.1 FM) will “shine a light” on the presentation and direct his listeners to Light of Day’s YouTube channel channel and FACEBOOK page . You can also join the APDT Watch Party
Winter is a lean time for beach towns, but, thanks to COVID-19, Asbury Park, like other northeastern shore destinations, has gone from one winter directly to another, effectively without summer revenues. Local residents are experiencing unusually tough times as the pandemic rages.
“As winter approaches and the issue of food insecurity during this COVID crisis grows, The Light of Day Foundation will ‘shine its light’ in an effort to raise money and awareness to support its spiritual hometown and the great work of Asbury Park Dinner Table,” said Tony Pallagrosi, LOD’s executive director and co-founder.
The Light of Day Foundation (LOD), hosts an annual January-long concert series in support of Parkinson’s Disease research and treatment. The events have been a Jersey staple for more than two decades, and now extends to concerts in New York and Europe.
Spend Sunday with music and caring! Tune in on FACEBOOK or 107.1 FM or the APDT Watch Party
