Up-and-comer Sebastian Ortiz regularly packed Boston venues when Boston had venues to pack. Now the singer/songwriter has been recording in Beantown’s Cybersound Studios and his bedroom.
On his third single, the alt-rock “When I Tell You That I Love You,” Ortiz explores the sounds of his early musical influences through double-tracked guitars, 60s-era harmonies, sleigh bells, and five-time overdubbed clapping. If something brings to mind the Beatles, you’re on the right track. With four powerful chords, this song brings enough energy to listeners to get through the dark dawn of 2021 and help carry them back to his live performances in Boston.
Ortiz takes nothing for granted. “I’m thankful for how far I’ve come as an artist. I’m thankful for my family, friends, and fans for their continued support.,” he told Elmore, “Although we are just the beginning, I’m really excited to see where I will go. If you’re just hearing about me now, stay tuned for a lot of coming action. It will be coming somewhere near you, fast.”
We think he’s right—this is the first of ten songs.
