Inspired by Elvis Presley, Eddie Cochran, Howlin’ Wolf and country from the ’30s into the 70s, songwriter/guitarist Seth Kessel puts a modern spin on his very own rock ‘n roll.
Though a New Yorker born and bred, Kessel is a well-traveled songwriter, singer and guitar player whose widespread professional music career spans various bands as a performer and as a producer/studio engineer. His personal focus, however, is in interpretations of American roots music, particularly 1950s rock ‘n’ roll and classic country. Kessel gathered a group of like-minded individuals who bonded over their love for vintage culture and sounds; the guys started a swing/jazz group, but quickly morphed into a rock ‘n’ roll act.
Kessel told Elmore Magazine, “‘Let That Train Roll By’ is about not engaging with that incredibly appealing, yet destructive force in your life. Where the good is damn good, but ain’t worth the aftermath. That’s why you gotta let that train roll by. The video captures the energy of the song with a variety of locations and people in New York City. Each place and person capturing a different emotion that would be the subject of the song.”
His upcoming album Ride on Through, to be released this June, has more of the same, plus some surprises from this talented artist. Suggestion: Join in, and enjoy the rides.
