“Life is already hard enough,” Amber Sweeney says, and to do her part, the Pacific Northwest artist brings a musical spring breeze to a gasping world with “Breathe.”‘
“Breathe” revisits a moment where Sweeney found peace in the middle of panic. While wandering through Manhattan, she found herself in a state of spiraling anxiety, a panic attack. Realizing that she was investing her attention on her phone conversation and not the experience of the city throbbing with life around her, Sweeney put the phone away and took a deep breath. She calmed herself down and began to appreciate what she was experiencing.
Amber Sweeney broke it down for Elmore: “What I love about this song is it reminds me to be present. As someone who wrestles with anxiety, it’s important for me to breathe and be present in this moment, so I can focus on who and what are in front of me.”
Whether we need to take a breath to find gratitude or to calm the emotions in a difficult situation, hitting “Pause” on the endless rush of life once in a while is essential. Should that prove difficult, just sit back, press “Play,” and breathe.
Sweeney’s distinctive voice and signature soul/blues sound may be familiar from One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected and in Stephen King’s film adaptation of Riding The Bullet.
In 2013, Sweeney released two EPs, The Starting Line and Christmas Time, in 2014, a single, “Lone Sailor,” for London Tone Music, which reached #4 on the iTunes Blues chart. In 2017 she recorded her first full-length album, Believing In Love.
Amber Sweeney is personally involved as an advocate for and mentor to youth, supporting organizations such as Rocksolid Teen Center in her home town of Battle Ground, Washington. She is also a Governor for The Recording Academy’s Pacific Northwest Chapter.
