Even in departure, Joe Thompson’s doing MASS MoCA a solid. Wilco stars Jeff Tweedy and Nels Cline are doing a benefit concert for the very special venue’s “Yes” Fund, Thompson’s pet project among his very well-kept museum menagerie, which includes, beyond concerts, innovative art installations and the Solid Sound Festival. MASS MoCA’s mission is to champion artists and art-making in all forms, a mission furthered by founding director Thompson for 33 years.
